Software Freedom Day

Posted Tue 18 Aug 2009

19 September is Software Freedom Day, and our tech club is celebrating this a day early (since the 19th is a Saturday) by reaching out to Maties students to inform them of the benefits of free software, and helping them to obtain and install free software.  They will be collaborating with Stellenbosch’s Linux community to run a Linux “install-fest” – a hassle-free opportunity for Windows users to get Linux installed on their computer.
Rudolf Meijering, Stellenbosch University’s SUN ambassador and tech club co-ordinator, is handling the arrangements for Software Freedom Day at Maties.  If you have any ideas, or can spare some time to support this worthy cause, please contact him at Rudolf.Meijering@CUT-ME-OUT@sun.com.
For more information on how you could get involved, check out the SFD09@Maties Google Group.
