Stellenbosch fares well in ACM

Posted Tue 13 Oct 2009

All four of Stellenbosch’s teams at this year’s ACM programming competition solved at least one problem – a stark contrast to last year’s competition where only 13 teams in the region managed to solve a problem.  Three Stellenbosch teams achieved places in the top 20, requiring at least 3 problems solved.  Last year’s competition runner-ups, Code Red, ended in 6th place this year, with 5 solutions out of the 6 problems.  Only one team managed to solved all 6 problems, with the next 8 teams (including Code Red) being separated based on a tie-breaker based on the time used to solve the problems and their numbers of incorrect submissions.
